UPDATE (2:31 p.m.)—A building inspector has been called in to determine the extent of structural damage to Mari Luna Latin Grille after a dump truck crashed through the storefront Monday.
There were no serious injuries, according to Baltimore County Police Department spokeswoman Elise Armacost.
“The driver got out of the vehicle and was walking around,” she said.
Mari Luna Restaurant remained closed Monday, according to restaurant staff.
“The whole front is destroyed,” including the windows and the front door, Salvador Khadra, manager, said Monday morning.
The truck was a small dump truck, he said, and it crashed through the front door and windows, from Pikesville’s main street, Reisterstown Road.
The incident occurred at about 9 a.m. Monday, Armacost said.
The restaurant, located at 1010 Reisterstown Road, will not be open today, but it might open Tuesday, Khadra said.
The Pikesville precinct of Baltimore County police was the first responder on the scene, but the department’s Commercial Vehicle Safety Unit is handling the investigation.
Mari Luna is in the district of downtown Pikesville that is part of the county’s Pikesville Redevelopment Plan. It’s newer construction meets Pikesville Streetscape Guidelines.
