The Director for Navy/Maritime Programs will be responsible for informing and influencing U.S. Navy and Coast Guard organizations on opportunities of interest to DRS Technologies and Finmeccanica.The Director, working closely with our senior leadership and business development team, will have primary responsibility to engage with Department of Defense and Coast Guard leadership and organizations in Washington on program and capability requirements, budgets, acquisition strategies and sustainment support for both DRS and the Finmeccanica companies operating in the U.S. The Director will interface directly with business development and others to identify program opportunities, expand our footprint on existing programs, and assist with the formulation of market strategies to increase the Company’s portfolio with the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard.
Duties and Responsibilities
The position will report to the Executive Vice President Washington Operations, DRS Technologies, Inc.
The Director will research, analyze, and monitor the development of program requirements, budget formulation, acquisition strategy and program execution and report these activities to the senior business development leadership, and senior leaders as appropriate.
The Director will build positive customer recognition and appreciation of DRS and Finmeccanica operating company capabilities with U.S. Navy and Coast Guard organizations, and facilitate introductions, relationships, and meetings between these headquarters organizations and the Company’s senior leaders.
The Director will advocate with key U.S. Government and industry customers on issues of importance to DRS/Finmeccanica, and will identify the functional impact of program, budget and acquisition issues as appropriate.
This role will perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein as assigned by the Executive Vice President Washington Operations
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with a Master’s degree preferred
Must have defense/aerospace industry experience with a proven track record of success, and 10 to 15 years of relevant military or civilian government service.
An understanding of the Department of Defense programming and budget process, federal acquisition process and military operational requirements and systems capability determination.
A robust network and connections to the Navy and Coast Guard to shape, influence and inform program and budget decisions in Washington Headquarters organizations.
Successful candidate may be subject to any background checks that DRS may require for employment or government security clearance
