The officers and men of the 12th escort taskforce under the Navy of the ChinesePeople’s
Liberation Army (PLA), who will soon head for the Gulf of Aden and thewaters off the
Somali coast to implement their escort mission, held a mass pledge andmobilization meeting on the morning of July 2, 2012 in the auditorium of a naval port inZhoushan of east China’s Zhejiang province.
Zhou Xuming, commander of the 12th Chinese naval escort taskforce and deputy chief of staff of the East China Sea Fleet of the Chinese PLA Navy, said the 12th Chinesen aval escort taskforce carefully studied and analyzed the characteristics of the current Somali pirates’ activities and launched some mission-oriented training. As a result, thetroop unit’s capability of escort-operation implementation has been remarkablyupgraded.
