Captain Seok Hae-kyun, has received recognition for his bravery, from the International Marine Organization.
The London-based organization awarded the Korean sailor, with the Exceptional Bravery Award at Sea, on Monday, local time.
Captain Seok fought back against Somali pirates, when his Korean vessel, the Samho Jewelry, was hijacked in January.
The sailor received a standing ovation from the representatives of, 1-hundred-69 nations as he made his way up to the podium.
In his speech, Captain Seok said, he was just thinking about what he could do, and should do, at the time of the attack.
