NATO Shipping Centre carries details of an attack yesterday (October 31st) in the Arabian Sea off Somalia.
The report states that a merchant vessel underway in position 08:10S – 046:06E came under fire from an unknown number of skiffs at 20:30 UTC. The merchant vessel took fire to the aft of the bridge bulkhead, port and starboard side accomodation and portholes. The onboard security team returned fire and, after 30 minutes, the pirates aborted their attack and left the vicinity.
The merchant vessel is now classed as safe.
